Copyable type for bios and captions

A field guide to Unicode display text, compatibility, accessibility, and when a plain alphabet is the better choice.

social

Copyable type generators do not install a font. They replace ordinary letters with visually related Unicode characters that many apps can display.

Where it works

Short display names, a decorative first line, and a single emphasized word are sensible uses. Rendering varies by platform, so test the exact destination before publishing.

Where plain text wins

Do not encode essential links, prices, dates, or instructions. Search, translation, copying, and screen readers are all more reliable with ordinary characters.

Use the Font Lab for decoration, then repeat the meaning in accessible plain text.
